Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Per Diem Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Lifestyle Management and Medical Weight Loss program in Danvers, Beverly, and Gloucester, MA. The role emphasizes evidence-based obesity medicine in a collaborative, patient-centered setting with a flexible per diem schedule.

You will conduct comprehensive evaluations, manage weight loss plans, prescribe anti-obesity medications, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support patients’

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited NP/PA program.
• Massachusetts licensure as NP/PA.
• National certification as NP or PA.
• Current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration (MCSR) or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive initial and follow-up evaluations for weight management.
• Review medical histories, exams, labs, and obesity risks.
• Develop individualized treatment plans for sustainable weight loss.
• Initiate and manage FDA‑approved anti‑obesity medications within guidelines.
• Coordinate care with primary and specialty providers.

This is an exceptional opportunity to provide evidence-based obesity medicine and metabolic health care in a collaborative, patient-centered environment while enjoying a flexible per diem schedule.Key Responsibilities :Clinical Assessment and ManagementConduct comprehensive initial and follow-up evaluations for patients seeking medical weight management.Obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, review laboratory and diagnostic results, and assess obesity-related health risks.Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on sustainable weight loss and long-term health improvement.Medical Weight Loss TreatmentInitiate, prescribe, and manage FDA-approved anti-obesity medications within scope of practice and organizational guidelines.Monitor treatment response, medication tolerance, and clinical outcomes, adjusting treatment plans as appropriate.Provide education and counseling regarding nutrition, physical activity, behavioral modification, and pharmacologic therapies.Management of Obesity-Related ConditionsEvaluate and manage common obesity-related comorbidities, including Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, and sleep apnea.Collaborate with primary care providers and specialists to coordinate comprehensive patient care.Multidisciplinary CollaborationWork closely with physicians, registered dietitians, behavioral health clinicians, exercise physiologists, pharmacists, and nursing staff to support holistic patient care.Participate in case reviews and interdisciplinary treatment planning.Documentation and Quality CareMaintain timely , accurate , and compliant documentation in the electronic health record (Epic).Adhere to organizational, state, and federal regulatory requirements and quality standards.Qualifications :RequiredMaster's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.Current Massachusetts licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.National certification as an NP or PA.Current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration (MCSR), or ability to obtain.Experience managing adult patients in primary care, endocrinology, obesity medicine, weight management, or a related specialty.PreferredExperience in obesity medicine, weight management, endocrinology, or lifestyle medicine.Certification from the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA) or documented experience in medical weight management.Familiarity with prescribing and managing GLP-1 receptor agonists and other anti-obesity pharmacotherapies.Experience using Epic or a comparable electronic health record.Why Join BILH?Flexible per diem scheduling.Collaborative multidisciplinary care environment.Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients' long-term health and wellness.Supportive clinical leadership and evidence-based care model.Diversity is a core value at Beth Israel Lahey Health.
