Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a full-time position with day shifts, alternating between inpatient and outpatient settings. Flu vaccination is required for all staff.

Responsibilities include assessing patients, planning and implementing care, and collaborating with a healthcare team to provide cost-effective, high-quality care. MA licensure and prescriptive authority are required, with BLS/ACLS as applicable.

Qualifications

  • Masters in Nursing required; RN license in MA; prescriptive authority required.
  • 1-3 years related experience in healthcare settings.
  • Prescriptive authority from MA DPH-DCP and DEA MA Board.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred for PAs.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the plan of care for a panel of patients.
  • Evaluate health care status: history, physicals, screening tests, risk assessment and diagnosis.
  • Develop and implement care plans with appropriate treatments and medications.
  • Provide cost-conscious, patient-centered care and participate in guideline development.
  • Monitor patient responses to therapy and adjust plans; educate and counsel patients.

Job description

When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives. This position is full time, and can accommodate both NP and PA candidates. The schedule is day shifts (roughly 8:30am to 5:00pm), and will alternate between supporting inpatient services and the outpatient clinic. Beth Israel Lahey Health requires that all staff be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the plan of care for a panel of patients.
  • Evaluates individual health care status of patients, including eliciting a patient history, performance of physical examination, ordering of screening and diagnostic tests, risk assessment and interprets this information to establish a diagnosis.
  • Develops and implements a plan of care, including treatments, medications and the like within defined guidelines for practice.
  • Provides care to the patient in a manner that incorporates the principles of patient satisfaction and delivery of cost effective care.
  • Participates in the development and evaluation of practice guidelines.
  • Monitors the individual's response to therapy and revises the plan, as indicated, with particular attention to education and counseling and encouragement of self-care.
  • Provides ongoing individualized patient orientation to APG/BIDCO.
  • Seeks consultation from the consulting physician and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Makes appropriate referrals as indicated by patient needs.
  • Identifies learning needs of patients and staff and collaborates with other leaders to determine priorities for educational programs.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary education programs of the practice and provides clinical precepting for nursing students, nurse practitioner students, medical students and others.
  • Provides leadership that supports APG, BIDHC practice policies and goals.
Required Qualifications for NPs
  • Master's degree in Nursing required.
  • License Nursing License required., and Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required.
  • 1-3 years related work experience required.
  • Valid prescriptive authority from both the MA DPH-DCP and Federal DEA MA Board authorization to practice as an APRN NRSG American Heart Association-Basic Life Support Certificate.
  • Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
Required Qualifications for PAs
  • MA License as PA is required DEA registration is required BLS/ACLS certification is required American Heart Association-Basic Life Support Certificate.

  • Related primary care practice expertise.

  • Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s). Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful manner.

Pay

Pay Range: $51.00 - $146,598.40 The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
