Medical Transporter

Responsibilities:
- Provide safe and efficient transportation of residents to and from medical appointments, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations
- Maintain or assist in maintaining a written schedule of patient appointments
- Arrange appointment times to allow flexibility to remain with patients if necessary
- Deliver and pick-up medical documents from physician offices
- Transport laboratory specimens to hospitals
- Run errands for the facility
- Keep company vehicle filled with fuel and notify the Maintenance Director of the need for routine service or repairs
- Assist with other assigned duties when not transporting
- Load and unload patients from vehicles, accompany them to physician offices, and stay with them if needed
- Deliver and return appropriate paperwork with each patient appointment
- Report any unusual occurrences or incidents involving patients to the charge nurse
- Maintain patient confidentiality regarding any medical information
Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Hold an active and unencumbered North Carolina CNA Certification
- Possess a valid state driver's license, not expired or suspended, with no pending Failures to Appear (FTA) or major* or capital* violations on driving record
- Maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record
- Must be able to read and write
- Must communicate well and work independently with minimal supervision
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with facility personnel, patients, families, and medical community
- Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability
- Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, or hostile patients
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Work is performed primarily in a company vehicle and in a residential community setting
- Speaking and hearing are required to perform job responsibilities
- Must be able to read, write, understand verbal and written directions
- Must have specific vision abilities, including color, close and far vision acuity, depth perception, and ability to adjust vision focus
- Must be in good physical health and have the ability to sit, stand, climb, and walk; must possess the strength/stamina to lift more than 50 pounds with assistance
