Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a transport technician to operate medical transport vehicles including ambulances and MAVs, delivering outstanding service and ensuring safe, timely patient movement. You will support emergency medical technicians for 911 and inter-facility requests.

Responsibilities include safe driving, accurate documentation, patient handling, and maintaining vehicle readiness. A valid NJ driver’s license and CPR/EVOC/MAV certs are preferred, with benefits for full-time or part-time

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification at professional rescuer level required or preferred.
• Mobility Assistance Vehicle-Operator certification required or preferred.
• EVOC certification preferred.
• Valid NJ driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operates medical transport vehicles safely and courteously.
• Completes required documentation and ensures on-time transports.
• Safely loading/unloading and securing wheelchairs.
• Communicates compassionately with patients and families.
• Performs vehicle checks and maintains supplies for service.
• Maintains equipment and vehicle in secure condition.
• Assists EMTs during transport.

Position Responsibilities

• Operates medical transport vehicles in a safe, defensive and courteous manner. Demonstrates knowledge of motor vehicle law-adheres to driving policies at all times, ensures the vehicle is fueled and operable and reports problems in a timely manner.
• Completes all required documentation and assures all transports are on time.
• Consistently practices safe patient movement, loading, unloading, and securing wheelchairs in MAV.
• Communicates with patient, caregivers and family members in a compassionate manner.
• Performs vehicle and equipment check at the start of each shift. Ensures that the vehicle and ready room are sufficiently stocked and ready for service. Completes supply inventory as requested by department management.
• Maintains all Virtua owned equipment and property in a safe, clean and secure manner.
• Provide assistance to emergency medical technicians during transport.

Position Qualifications Required

• Required Experience:
• Required Education
• Previous experience operating medical transport vehicles preferred.
• High School diploma or GED
• Training / Certification / Licensure
• Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to the professional rescuer level, Mobility Assistance Vehicle-Operator, and EVOC- PREFERRED
• Must have valid Driver’s license recognized by the State of New Jersey and driving record must meet insurance company standards/requirements.
• Must complete yearly PPD, Fit Test, Corporate Compliance, HIPAA and Safety Day training by the date set forth by the department.

Salary: $18.36 - $23.60 Hourly
