Job description

Overview

The Route Service Representative (RSR) is the face of Quest Diagnostics to the public and our customers, acting as an ambassador for the company. This role involves performing daily route operations to serve client needs, including tracking, sorting, storing, and transporting patient specimens and other materials such as supplies and results.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all processes including timekeeping, attendance, vehicle safety, OSHA requirements, device usage, proper handling and storage of samples, packing specimens, vehicle checks, dress code, and company policies.
  • Transport specimens, supplies, reports, equipment, and materials safely and promptly to designated destinations.
  • Operate company vehicle safely, maintaining a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Start routes equipped with necessary tools like scanners, coolers, dry ice, cell phone, keys, and documentation materials.
  • Follow scheduled routes, accommodating will-call stops and special pickups.
  • Maintain specimen integrity during transport, using appropriate carry bags and temperature controls.
  • Follow all documentation and scan requirements for specimens.
  • Place door hangers for clients with no specimens available and notify supervisors of service issues.
  • Coordinate with Dispatch before leaving an area to ensure all client requests are addressed.
  • Keep route information, sequencing, and client notes updated.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions punctually and complete all training requirements timely.
  • Care for and maintain company equipment, reporting any issues.
  • Provide client satisfaction feedback to Logistics Management.
  • Maintain professionalism and a service-oriented attitude, embodying Everyday Excellence and the Five Guiding Principles.
Qualifications

Required Work Experience: Valid driver’s license with at least 1 year of driving experience and a clean Motor Vehicle Record with fewer than three violations in the past 36 months.

Preferred Work Experience: At least 1 year in customer service, logistics, or delivery roles.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Travel required
  • Extensive use of phones and handheld devices
  • Flexibility for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime
  • Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, and driving
  • Fine motor skills and steadiness
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly, occasionally up to 40 pounds, and carry 15 pounds for several minutes
  • Effective communication in English
  • Good vision and visual attention
  • Bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting

Knowledge: Basic computer skills and experience with handheld scanners preferred.
