Job summary

Geisinger Lewistown Hospital is seeking a dedicated transport professional to perform safe and efficient transport of patients and items across nursing units and other departments. You will deliver supplies, equipment, medications and materials to designated areas, ensure proper medication handoffs with nurses, and maintain a courteous, professional demeanor with patients and staff.

Role requires lifting at least 50 pounds, duration driving, and adherence to hospital policies.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Certification(s) and License(s): Valid Driver's License required.
  • Skills: Communication, Computer Literacy, Teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Transport patients and items to and from nursing units and other departments.
  • Deliver supplies, equipment, medication and materials to patient units and designated areas.
  • Ensure handoffs of medications with nurses and maintain professional communication with staff and patients.
  • Operate transportation equipment safely and disinfect regularly.
  • Record transportation data and report status to the manager in charge.
  • Perform transport in various locations including hospital facilities and designated areas.

Job Summary: Performs safe and efficient transport of patients and items to and from nursing units and other departments in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Job Duties: Delivers supplies, equipment, medication and other materials to the patient units, and other designated areas in a safe, timely, and accurate manner. Ensures that a handoff of medication occurs with the nurse. Maintain a courteous professional demeanor and communicates appropriately with patients, visitors, hospital personnel, and fellow employees at all times. Perform inspections and disinfecting procedures on transportation equipment utilized by the department. Records transportation data electronically and manually on appropriate forms and logs utilized by the department. Reports the status of transportation activities and abnormal activities to the manager in charge. Transport patients and adjunct equipment via prescribed vehicles between patient units, treatment centers, and their designated areas in a safe, timely, and accurate manner. Work is typically performed in a transportation vehicle, office, residences, commercial buildings, medical facilities, and public places. Requires the ability to lift at least 50 pounds. Requires sitting and driving a vehicle for an extended period of time. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
