Position Details

Location: Merit Health River Oaks

Type: Full-Time, Weekend Nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)

Job Summary

The Medical Technologist I performs routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood and body fluids, ensuring accurate results by following quality control protocols and maintaining equipment. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, data collection for compliance, teaching, and phlebotomy duties as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and report moderate and high complexity tests accurately and timely.
  • Maintain quality control and troubleshoot instrument issues.
  • Conduct instrument checks and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure safety regulations are followed.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare staff.
  • Assist with proficiency testing and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform phlebotomy and support patient care.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient operations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field, or equivalent proficiency exam.
  • 0-2 years of acute care experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of lab procedures and safety.
  • Technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with laboratory information systems.
  • Knowledge of patient demographic competencies.
Licenses and Certifications
  • ASCP, MLT-AMT, or CLS-L preferred.
