***This position is contingent upon contract award and will be located onsite in either the southeast, southwest, or central United States. Travel will likely be required.***

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Performs complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests.
2. Examines and analyzes body fluids and cells and matches blood for transfusions.
3. Must be familiar with the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) requirements for maintaining blood products for transfusion.
4. Analyzes the chemical content of fluids and tests for drug levels in the blood.
5. Prepares specimens, counts cells, and looks for abnormal cells in blood and body fluids.
6. Analyzes test results and relays them to physicians.
7. Makes cultures of body fluid and tissue samples to determine the presence of bacteria, fungi, parasites, or other microorganisms.
8. Analyzes samples for chemical content or a chemical reaction and determines concentrations of compounds such as blood glucose and cholesterol levels.
9. Evaluates test results, develops and modifies procedures, and establishes and monitors programs to ensure the accuracy of tests.
10. Uses universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers from biohazardous materials, including blood-borne pathogens.
11. Orders and stocks supplies as needed and maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
12. In addition to preparing labs and lab equipment, medical technologists and technicians keep patient records, adjust and maintain equipment, and may prepare work schedules, evaluate purchases of equipment, or manage a medical lab department.
13. Provides supervision or acts as Lead for the lab, guiding other medical technologists and technicians.
14. Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a formal Medical Technology training program leading to a Bachelor's Degree.
• Must be certified by the American Medical Technologist (AMT), the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel, Inc. (NCA).
• Must have and maintain current BLS certification.
• A minimum of five (5) years' experience as a Medical Technologist is required.
• A minimum of one (1) year experience in a Lead role.
• All healthcare providers must have current clinical experience in direct patient care and have worked at least 6 months in the last 12 months in the desired field.
• Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, organized, and have excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency with computers, MS Office, and common office equipment is required.
• Ability to adapt to sudden changes and work flexibly based on operational needs.
• Strong problem-solving skills to research and resolve inquiries promptly.
• Proficiency in speaking, writing, and communicating in English.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions

• Work is typically performed in an interior/office environment.
• Involves sitting and standing for extended periods.
