Job summary

HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital is seeking a Medical Technologist PRN to join our laboratory team at a Tampa, FL location. You will perform accurate and timely laboratory testing, assist with documentation, and ensure quality control throughout shifts.

The role requires an Associate degree in Medical Technology (Bachelor's preferred), and a Florida MT license or ability to obtain during the interview process.

Qualifications

• 2 Year/Associate degree is required.
• 1 year of MT experience preferred.
• State license required or ability to obtain during interview process.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing as instructed.
• Assume department responsibility in supervisor's absence.
• Complete records and documentation for patient results.
• Perform stat procedures within established turnaround times.
• Demonstrate independent judgment in result interpretation and delta checks.
• Review OSR and result logs; communicate workload to staff.

Job Summary And Qualifications

What qualifications you will need:

You Will:

• Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing by analyzing proficiency testing samples according to instructions and complete within the allowable time frame
• Assume responsibility of the department asappropriate inthe absence of the supervisor
• Complete all required records/documentationpertaining topatient results
• Perform stat procedures within established turnaround time targets
• Demonstrate the ability to use good judgment and independent thinking in the correlation and interpretation of patient results. (Including performing delta checks, etc.)
• Review pending logs (OSR) and result logs; resolve any outstanding workload or communicate to staff relief
• Perform quality control procedures per protocol and handle all problem and/or critical laboratory specimens/test results

You Should Have:

• A 2 Year/Associate Degreeisrequired
• A 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technologyis preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist preferred
• A State of Florida Technologist License isrequiredOR the ability to obtain a license during the interview process

Technologist License in one or more clinical specialty areas: (Generalist highly preferred)

• Blood bank
• Serology
• Chemistry
• Hematology
• Microbiology
