Job Summary

Memorial Hermann TMC seeks an experienced Medical Technologist with a focus on Point of Care testing.

Schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with no weekends or holidays.

A minimum of two years of experience as a generalist is highly desired. Experience with Point of Care testing is a plus.

Must have excellent communication skills, as this position will involve training others in point of care testing.

The position will support the growth of point of care testing by performing new instrument validations and scheduled testing to meet regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include performing various laboratory tests and procedures as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

Education : Bachelor's degree in Biological Science (equivalency required for foreign education)

Licenses / Certifications : Medical Technologist (ASCP) or (AMT), Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP-International), Certified CLS (ASCP), Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP-International), CM or ASCP Certification eligible.

Additional Qualifications :

  • Successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited MLS program within the last 5 years; or
  • MLT (ASCP) certification with two years of full-time acceptable laboratory experience in various disciplines within the last four years; or
  • CLA (ASCP) certification with a bachelor's degree and four years of acceptable experience within the last eight years; or
  • Five years of full-time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in relevant disciplines within the last ten years.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Performs and documents test results, quality control, maintenance procedures, and corrective actions according to policy and procedure.
  • Manages daily lab operations including specimen collection, processing, reporting, and clerical duties to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Communicates effectively with hospital personnel, physicians, patients regarding specimens and results, respecting patient needs and confidentiality.
  • Adheres to policies, procedures, and standards set by regulatory agencies such as TJC, FDA, CAP, AABB, CMS, HCFA, and CLIA.
  • Promotes quality patient care, customer satisfaction, safety, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensures safety for patients, staff, and visitors, complying with all hospital policies and standards within budget and resource constraints.
  • Supports professional growth through continuing education, and serves as a preceptor and mentor to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrates commitment to compassionate, personalized care, modeling service standards for patients and colleagues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
