Job Summary

Memorial Hermann League City is seeking a Medical Technologist or MLT to support our team on nights.

Schedule: 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., at least 24 hours per pay period/every two weeks.

Position is responsible for performing various laboratory tests/procedures as assigned.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science (equivalency required for foreign education)

Licenses/Certifications: Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Medical Technologist (AMT), Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP-International), Certified CLS (ASCP), Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP-International) CM, or ASCP Certification eligible.

ASCP Certification Eligibility:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science and successful completion of a NAACLS accredited MLS program within the last 5 years; or
  • MLT (ASCP) certification and two years of full-time acceptable laboratory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids in the U.S., Canada or an accredited laboratory within the last four years; or
  • CLA (ASCP) certification and a bachelor’s degree in a biological science and four years of full-time acceptable experience in relevant laboratory areas in the last eight years; or
  • Five years of full-time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in relevant areas in the last ten years.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Performs and documents test results, quality control, maintenance procedures, and corrective actions according to policy/procedure.
  • Manages and performs other aspects of daily lab operations including collections, sample processing, results reporting, personnel direction, and clerical duties to maintain efficient workflow and patient needs.
  • Interacts with hospital personnel, volunteers, physicians, and patients regarding specimens and results, adhering to policies and procedures with sensitivity to customer needs.
  • Complies with policies, procedures, and standards of laboratory services, the hospital, and regulatory agencies like TJC, FDA, CAP, AABB, CMS, HCFA, and CLIA.
  • Performs duties promoting quality patient care and customer satisfaction while ensuring safety, cost efficiency, and quality of service.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to all hospital policies within budget and productivity standards.
  • Supports professional growth through continuing education and skills competency; serves as preceptor and mentor to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrates commitment to community care by creating compassionate, personalized experiences, modeling service standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
