Memorial Hermann Greater Heights seeks a Medical Technologist or MLT to join our team on Nights, 7 on/7 off schedule.

Position responsible for performing and overseeing various laboratory tests/procedures as assigned.

Job Description

• Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent for foreign education) or Laboratory Science, with documentation of clinical laboratory training, or experience in high-complexity testing.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Medical Lab Technician (ASCP or ASCP-International) or Medical Lab Technician (AMT), or eligible for certification and pass within one year of employment.
• Principal Accountabilities:
  • Performs and documents test results, quality control, maintenance procedures, and corrective actions according to policy/procedure.
  • Manages and performs aspects of daily lab operations including collections, sample processing, result reporting/distribution, personnel direction, and clerical duties to maintain efficient workflow, considering patient needs.
  • Interacts with hospital personnel, volunteers, physicians, and patients regarding specimens and results, adhering to policies and showing sensitivity to customer needs.
  • Complies with policies, procedures, and standards of laboratory services, hospital, and system, including standards set by TJC, FDA, CAP, AABB, CMS, HCFA, and CLIA.
  • Promotes quality patient care and customer satisfaction while ensuring safety, cost efficiency, and adherence to the PI process.
  • Ensures safe care to patients by following policies, managing inventory, and maintaining accuracy and productivity.
  • Maintains system computer knowledge relevant to the job.
  • Supports professional growth through mandatory/continuing education, serving as preceptor, mentor, and resource.
  • Supports system and hospital initiatives, maintains effective relationships, and addresses customer satisfaction issues.
  • May participate in interview processes for job applicants.
  • Ensures safety for patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to policies and standards within budget, time, and resource constraints.
  • Demonstrates commitment to compassionate, personalized care, modeling service standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
