Position Details

***This position is contingent upon contract award and will be located onsite in either the southeast, southwest, or central United States. Travel will likely be required.***

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests.
  2. Examine and analyze body fluids and cells; match blood for transfusions.
  3. Familiarity with the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) requirements for maintaining blood products for transfusion.
  4. Analyze chemical content of fluids and test for drug levels in the blood.
  5. Prepare specimens, count cells, and look for abnormal cells in blood and body fluids.
  6. Analyze test results and relay them to physicians.
  7. Make cultures of body fluid and tissue samples to determine the presence of bacteria, fungi, parasites, or other microorganisms.
  8. Analyze samples for chemical content or reactions; determine concentrations of compounds such as blood glucose and cholesterol levels.
  9. Evaluate test results, develop and modify procedures, and monitor programs to ensure test accuracy.
  10. Use universal safety precautions to protect against biohazardous materials, including blood-borne pathogens.
  11. Order and stock supplies; maintain a safe and clean work environment by adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations.
  12. In addition to preparing patients and operating equipment, radiologic technologists and technicians keep patient records, maintain equipment, and may manage a radiology department.
  13. Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Complete a formal Medical Technology training program leading to a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Certified by AMT, ASCP, or NCA.
  • Maintain current BLS certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Medical Technologist.
  • Current clinical experience in direct patient care, with at least 6 of the last 12 months in the desired field.
  • Ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented, organized, and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, office equipment, and MS Office.
  • Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexible work requirements, including shift changes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for timely inquiry resolution.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
  • Work is typically performed in an interior/office environment.
  • Sitting and standing for prolonged periods may be required.
