Medical Technologist (MT), Chemistry, 40hr - Days

Work Shift: Day (United States of America)

Sign-On Bonus: Up to $7,000

Job Description:

Contribute to the hospital's mission by independently performing clinical laboratory tests in Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, and other functions as ordered by physicians. Use superior decision-making skills to address patient care and instrumentation issues promptly, without on-site supervision. This role impacts patient care during the night shift by performing accurate tests, liaising professionally with hospital departments, and ensuring high-quality patient care.

Education and Qualifications:
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in a science field or grandfathered qualifications.
  • Grandfathered qualifications include: 2-year science degree with prior clinical experience before 1980 or MLT Certification (HEW or military) before 1980.

Licenses, Registrations, Certifications:

  • Required: Medical Technologist registry eligibility.
  • Preferred: Registered Medical Technologist (ASCP or equivalent).
Job Functions:
  • Prepare specimens based on lab orders.
  • Perform tests manually or with automated instrumentation, ensuring specimen integrity.
  • Conduct quality control checks and maintain equipment.
  • Respond promptly to supply and equipment issues.
  • Input results into electronic medical records, expedite critical results.
  • Calibrate reagents and troubleshoot test anomalies.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and documentation for compliance.
  • Review supplies and communicate needs.
  • In the absence of supervisors, may lead shift operations and resolve issues.
