Overview:

The Medical Laboratory Technician I is part of the provider care team, assisting with diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patient conditions through technical and scientific expertise. This role is responsible for the accurate, precise, and timely performance of laboratory tests, evaluating and reporting results while ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards, consistent with a World Class Laboratory. Excellent customer service skills, aligned with Mercy Signature Service, are essential in all interactions. The duties performed should reflect our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with successful completion of an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks, and holding the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician). Alternatively, a high school diploma or equivalent with documented training relevant to the testing performed prior to analyzing patient specimens.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of acceptable clinical laboratory experience.
  • Preferred Education: Associate's degree in chemistry, biology, or a related science field meeting certification agency requirements.
  • Preferred Certifications: MLT (ASCP) or equivalent.
