Responsibilities

Independently performs laboratory procedures for which the technologist has been trained and demonstrated competency. Conducts laboratory testing on patients of all ages using professional knowledge, executing, interpreting, and analyzing results accurately and promptly.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent, plus relevant college/technical courses and clinical training to qualify for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency.
• Experience: None beyond education/training required.
• Licensure/Certification: Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by ASCP, AMT, or AAB, in accordance with Georgia state regulations. Recent movers or graduates may be temporarily classified for 18 months to complete certification.
• Additional Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, or related fields preferred. One year of supervised clinical experience preferred. Competence in areas such as chemistry, hematology, coagulation, blood bank, microbiology is desirable.
