Job summary

Mercy- Rogers is seeking a Medical Technologist- Lead for full-time evening shifts. The role includes performing technical tests across hematology, chemistry, bacteriology, serology, and more, with responsibilities for specimen collection, equipment maintenance, inventory control, and quality assurance.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in medical technology or a related field, ASCP certification, and have experience with phlebotomy and clinical lab computer systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, laboratory science or chemical, physical or biological science.
• ASCP certification or equivalent required; initial certification after 1/1/04 must be maintained.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform and report tests in hematology, coagulation, chemistry, bacteriology, blood bank, serology, and urinalysis.
• Collect specimens and operate routine laboratory equipment.
• Maintain equipment and perform repairs as needed.
• Manage inventory, calibrations, and quality control processes.
• Record workload data and participate in quality assessment.
• Utilize LIS and other computer programs related to patient care.

Responsible for the performance and reporting various technical, chemical, microscopic and microbiological tests to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment. Performs these tests in the areas of Hematology, Coagulation, Chemistry, Bacteriology, Blood Bank, Serology, and Urinalysis. Also responsible for, but not limited to, performing specimen collections, routine equipment operation and maintenance/repair, inventory control, quality control, calibration, workload recording, and quality assessment. Properly utilizes the LIS and all other computer programs related to patient care. Demonstrates positive customer service skills. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Requirements
Education: Bachelors in medical technology, laboratory science or chemical, physical or biological science.
Experience: Student experience during internship
Certifications: Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCP or equivalent. Persons acquiring initial certification after 1/1/04 must maintain certification status as require by ASCP.
Other: Operation and maintenance of standard laboratory equipment. Skill in phlebotomy procedures. Basic Computer knowledge.
Preferred Experience: 1 year laboratory experience preferred.
