Responsibilities

Independently performs laboratory procedures for which the technologist has been trained and demonstrated competency. Conducts laboratory testing on patients of all ages, utilizing professional knowledge of laboratory procedures, and executes, interprets, and analyzes results accurately and promptly.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent, plus sufficient college and/or technical courses and clinical training to meet testing and certification requirements as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency.
• Experience: None beyond education/training required.
• Licensure/Certification: Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by ASCP, AMT, or AAB, in accordance with Georgia Department of Community Health regulations. Provisional certification not accepted.
• Additional Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology, or related life sciences preferred. One year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist is preferred. Competency in laboratory areas such as chemistry, hematology, coagulation, blood bank, microbiology is advantageous.
