UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is seeking a Medical Technologist for point-of-care testing. This role involves traveling to offsite clinics, performing a range of chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests, and interpreting results to aid diagnosis.

The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a mixed shift and potential second-shift flex. A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology and three years of experience are required; ASCP MT certification is preferred.

• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of an accredited four-year school of Medical Technology.
• ASCP certification as an MT is preferred.
• Three years of related experience.

Responsabilités

• Follows established protocols to perform various tests, including the most complex, for an assigned area. Provides guidance and consultation to Medical Technologist I's and Medical Lab Technicians in the interpretation of complex or unusual test results.
• Interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition to explain results and guide action.
• Troubleshoots testing process discrepancies.
• Assists in development of new tests and quality procedures for the assigned area.
• Ensures test results meet requirements of the laboratory quality control program.
• Ensures preventative maintenance for equipment in the assigned area.
• Assists in the roll-out of new equipment and equipment modifications.
• Instructs technicians and technologists in the set-up and operation of new equipment and procedures.
• Ensures compliance with all laboratory quality and safety policies.
• Instructs students in clinical laboratory operations and procedures.
• Maintains accurate records of tests performed, using computer-based systems.

Hiring Range:

$35.50 - $54.18

(based on a full time schedule of 40 hours per week).

Please note that the final offer will vary based on scheduled hours. Compensation for part-time or reduced schedules will be prorated based on scheduled weekly hours, experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Major Responsibilities:

• Follows established protocols to perform various tests, including the most complex, for an assigned area. Provides guidance and consultation to Medical Technologist I's and Medical Lab. Technicians in the interpretation of complex or unusual test results.


• Interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition in order to explain test results (normal/abnormal) so that appropriate action can be taken.


• Troubleshoots testing process discrepancies.


• Assists in development new test and quality procedures for assigned area.


• Ensures that test results meet requirements of the laboratory quality control program.


• Ensures preventative maintenance for equipment in assigned area. Performs moderately complex troubleshooting, repair, and modification of a wide range of complex equipment and instrumentation.


• May assist in the roll-out of new equipment and equipment modifications.


• Instructs technicians and technologists in the set-up and operation of new equipment and procedures.


• Ensures compliance with all laboratory quality and safety policies.


• Instructs students in clinical laboratory operations and procedures.


• Maintains accurate records of tests performed, using computer-based systems.
