Boston Medical Center Health System is seeking a Medical Technologist II to provide support for clinical activities in the Microbiology Lab. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology and have at least three years of lab experience. This role involves performing complex tests, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining quality control procedures. A strong background in laboratory testing and effective communication skills are essential for success in this position.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Technical supervisor, provides ancillary support for clinical activities by performance and appropriate interpretation of moderate and high complexity clinical laboratory tests as defined under CLIA '88. Minimum of 3 years of lab experience as certified medical technologist are required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
1. Performs moderate and high complexity tests and interprets them.
2. Reviews testing and/or procedures performed by other staff to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies as required.
3. Prioritizes STAT and routine samples.
4. Ensures accurate specimen processing and labelling consistent with departmental policies. Also ensures appropriateness of specimen sources and test timing based on laboratory policies and procedures
5, Performs appropriate maintenance, quality control and quality assurance functions based on testing done.
6. Is fully operational on all LIS systems - general and instrument based
7. Communicates all critical values within appropriate time frames
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Requires the completion of a Bachelor degree in Medical Technology or equivalent of Biology, chemistry or Biochemistry. Requires successful completion of a clinical internship in an accredited laboratory.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Certification by agencies such as ASCP, NCA, ASM, HEW, or AMT strongly preferred.
