Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Medical Technologist I to join our Special Chemistry team in Indianapolis, IN. The successful candidate will perform routine and complex testing, ensure accuracy, and uphold quality standards in a fast-paced clinical laboratory.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:30 PM. A Bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science or an MLS, plus relevant experience, is required. Labcorp offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Chemical/Biological sciences or CLIA/State compliant equivalent.
• MLS degree or 1 year of clinical lab testing experience required.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions per SOPs.
• Resolve pendings and document discrepancies; notify management if unresolved.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation for proper function.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report timely and accurate test results to support patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as needed.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and PPE compliance.
• Comply with regulatory guidelines and Labcorp SOPs.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non-traditional Bachelor’s degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements

Labcorp is seeking a Medical Technologist I to join our Special Chemistry team in Indianapolis, IN.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 2pm-10:30pm

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Resolve pendings. Retrieve and check specimens against pending list. Document specimen discrepancies. Notify laboratory management when specimen discrepancies are not resolved.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
• Comply with regulatory guidelines and Labcorp Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non-traditional Bachelor’s degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
• One year of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree

Preferred Qualifications

• ASCP or AMT certification
• Two years clinical testing experience

Additional Job Standards

• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Pay Range

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
