Medical Technologist I Core Chemistry Split Full Time Days

About DMC University Laboratories

DMC University Laboratories is a regional, integrated laboratory system serving the eight hospitals of Detroit Medical Center, with a test menu of over 1,000 tests, including high-end specialty tests. Less than 1% of tests are sent to outside reference laboratories. We provide reference laboratory services to healthcare systems in Southeastern Michigan and beyond.

Job Summary

Under general supervision, performs quantitative and qualitative laboratory tests on patient specimens, analyzes results, prepares samples, and maintains records. Responsible for processing and testing laboratory specimens, reviewing and reporting lab results, and maintaining laboratory instrumentation and equipment.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or equivalent military training, qualified at the Medical Technologist level by passing a HHS exam before 2/28/92, meeting CLIA high complexity testing criteria.
  • Preferably 6 months to 1 year of medical laboratory technologist experience in an acute care setting.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT, or CSMLS within 12 months of hire). Non-US trained personnel must complete an equivalency evaluation within 30 days of hire. State licensure as required.

  • Effective interpersonal skills for collaboration with healthcare teams.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity for operating laboratory equipment and examining specimens.
