Job summary

Labcorp in Indianapolis, IN is hiring a Medical Technologist I to join the Immunoassay team in the Core Automated Testing Department. The shift is 2-10:30pm or 3-11:30pm, Monday–Friday, alternating schedule.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science and 1+ year of clinical laboratory testing experience; ASCP or AMT certification is preferred. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is offered to eligible employees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• One year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience or an MLS degree.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE.

Labcorp is seeking a Medical Technologist I to join our Immunoassay team in the Core Automated Testing Department located in Indianapolis, IN!

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, Tuesday-Saturday alternating. 2-10:30pm or 3-11:30pm

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• One year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience or an MLS degree

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
• Sign-on Bonus $7,500*** Internal Employees Not Eligible for Sign-on Bonus
