Actalent is hiring for a weekend NIGHT Hematologist Technologist in Brooklyn, NY. This permanent, on-site role supports the Hematology department with hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, and spinal counts.

The position runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights from 11pm to 7am. The role involves performing analyses, interpreting results, adhering to quality and regulatory standards, and collaborating with clinical teams to ensure accurate, timely patient results.

Responsibilities

• Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis on specimens with a focus on hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, and spinal counts.
• Read slides and differentials; interpret results accurately.
• Follow established laboratory protocols for urinalysis and coagulation testing.
• Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of specimens to maintain integrity.
• Adhere to quality control policies to ensure reliable patient results.
• Recognize and report critical results to clinicians promptly.
• Document test results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Follow regulatory standards, safety procedures, and institutional policies.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support lab improvements and expansion of capabilities.
• Participate in cross-training opportunities to broaden skills across chemistry and related areas.
• Contribute to a positive work environment and effective communication with staff and clinical teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis on all specimens received in the laboratory for the assigned station, with a primary focus on hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, and spinal counts.
• Apply a thorough understanding of the principles underlying the tests performed and maintain a working knowledge of the equipment used in the assigned station.
• Conduct hematology testing, including reading differentials and slides, and accurately interpret results.
• Perform urinalysis and coagulation testing according to established laboratory protocols and standards.
• Ensure that all specimens are correctly labeled, handled, and placed in appropriate storage conditions to maintain specimen integrity.
• Follow all quality control policies and procedures to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely patient results.
• Recognize critical or lifethreatening results, verify findings, and promptly report them to the appropriate clinician or designated healthcare professional.
• Document all test results accurately and completely in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Adhere to clinical laboratory regulatory standards, safety procedures, and institutional policies at all times.
• Collaborate with colleagues and laboratory leadership to support continuous improvement and the rebuilding and enhancement of the laboratorys capabilities.
• Participate in crosstraining opportunities, including chemistry, to expand skill set and support general lab operations.
• Contribute to a positive, supportive work environment and communicate effectively with laboratory staff and other clinical teams.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
