Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform and analyze clinical laboratory tests across disciplines, ensuring accuracy and compliance with SOPs. Responsibilities include QA/QC, instrument maintenance, and collaboration with nurses and physicians.

The role requires MT licensure as per state requirements, a B.S. in Medical Technology or related field, and potential ASCP/AMT certification. Experience in a clinical lab is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must possess current licensure as required by state board where services will be provided.
• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Science OR Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science, or 30+ years of experience with CLIA grandfathered exception.
• Certification as MT/MLT by ASCP or AMT is preferred.
• Experience as a Medical Technologist.

Responsibilities

• Process and analyze samples in a timely and orderly fashion, ensuring accurate identification.
• Set up, run, maintain, and adjust laboratory instruments per policies.
• Perform quality control and follow infection control procedures.
• May perform quality control summaries.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures as needed.
• Complete forms and report findings to nurses and/or physicians.
• Interact with healthcare workers to interpret patient lab results within medical technology context.
• Perform routine and basic laboratory testing within a designated area.
