UAB Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama is looking for a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. The role involves performing lab procedures, assisting in equipment evaluation, and maintaining quality control.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory or a related field and complete a twelve-month internship. Certifications from ASCP or AMT are required within specific timeframes. A sign-on bonus of $10,000 is available for full-time hires.
There are two pathways for qualification; work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement under either pathway. Qualified with either a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory or a related field with the completion of a twelve (12) month internship in a Medical Technology program approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) with the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or as a Medical Technologist (MT) with the American Medical Technologists (AMT) required OR for students pursuing a Medical Technology degree, a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory or a related field with the completion of a twelve (12) month internship in an approved program as previously described required within nine (9) months from date of hire. Certification from ASCP or AMT must be obtained within fifteen (15) months from date of hire. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required within thirty (30) days from date of hire depending on the type of patient related care performed.
