Job summary

Advocate Health's Central Lab: Cytogenetics is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist. You will perform and oversee lab tests, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols.

This role supports newborn to adult specimens and collaborates with ED, ICU, and OR teams to deliver timely results. Requires MT/MLS certification readiness within 1 year, a BS in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory sciences is required.
• Bachelor's or associate's degree in medical technology or related field is required.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests per established protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and notifies accordingly.
• Performs calibration, maintenance and repair of instruments and equipment.
• Documents quality control and quality assurance per protocol and takes corrective action as needed.
• Collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients following established protocol.
• Provides training and guidance to medical laboratory staff and students.
• Ensures compliance with accrediting standards and CAP requirements in an acute setting.
• Performs proficiency testing and supports diverse specialty testing areas as needed.
