Medical Technologist - Louisville, KY area

$1500 sign-on bonus

Relocation Bonus (Paid on first paycheck):

Hourly Pay: $30.00-$41.00; Based on level of experience

The Medical Technologist handles all infectious disease testing with a goal of providing 100% accuracy when processing samples. The Medical Technologist performs essential functions such as laboratory safety, Good Documentation Practice (GDP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), specimen processing, troubleshooting, maintaining productivity and quality metrics, and effective communication with laboratory management and team.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Performing sample prep, DNA extraction, and PCR.
  2. Running KingFisher Flex, Accufill, VeritiPro, QuantStudio 12K and 5.
  3. Performing accurate manual and electronic pipetting of small sample volumes.
  4. Adhere to laboratory’s quality control policies, activities, and SOPs.
  5. Review all SOPs and workflow updates promptly and ensure implementation.
  6. Perform preventive maintenance and decontamination of equipment and workspaces.
  7. Follow established policies for notifying supervisors about test system performance issues.
  8. Ensure individual work output aligns with company metrics.
  9. Identify and report problems affecting testing performance or reporting.
  10. Participate in proficiency testing as applicable.
  11. Complete all CEU credits as required.
  12. Stay informed of incident reports and compliance issues through team meetings.
  13. Perform basic accession in pre-analytical operations, including patient identifiers, auditing, specimen acceptance/rejection, and exception handling.

Job Qualifications/Education:

Candidates must possess a current license issued by the state where the lab is located (if required), and meet educational requirements:

  1. 60 semester hours or equivalent, including at least 24 hours of medical laboratory technology or science courses (chemistry, biology, or related).
  2. Completion of an accredited clinical laboratory training program (ABHES, NAACLS, or approved by HHS).

Requirements:

  1. 1-year high complexity clinical laboratory experience preferred, unless mandated by state.
  2. Broad understanding of sterile technique, contamination control, and unidirectional workflow for PCR labs.
  3. Knowledge of molecular techniques, micropipetting, and instrument troubleshooting.
  4. Experience in a CLIA/CAP laboratory required.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • ASCP, AMT, or similar certifications preferred unless required by state.
