Summary of Job Function: Under the supervision of the section supervisor, the medical technologist performs all laboratory procedures in a prompt, accurate and reliable manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Will be trained to work in at least one other laboratory department. Supervisor of that department will determine competency level. Scheduling in secondary department will be determined by laboratory staffing needs at the discretion of laboratory leadership. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.
Job Qualifications: BA/BS Degree. Graduate of an approved school of Medical Technology. ASCP or equivalent certification preferred. One to three years prior experience required.
