Job summary

Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia, LA is seeking a full-time Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT). The MT/MLT will apply medical technology principles to produce reliable results for physician diagnoses and manage testing in all laboratory sections.

Position requires MT or MLT certification and current license, with 7 days on, 7 days off schedule. MT oversees MTs and MLTs; MLT oversees Lab Assistants and students. Competitive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of waived, moderate, and high complexity testing in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and blood bank.
• Analytical computer skills and familiarity with laboratory workflow.
• Ability to work independently and exercise judgment.

Responsibilities

• Runs lab tests in all sections of laboratory.
• Reviews results via LIS interface and ensures accuracy.
• Performs routine LIS operations: orders tests and checks pending results.
• Oversees MLTs, Lab Assistants, Phlebotomists and students.
• Maintains proper documentation and QC procedures.
• Maintains instrument/calibration records and QA activities.
