Position: Per Diem Medical Technologist (MT)

Department: Laboratory

Shift: Days

Purpose

A Medical Technologist performs a variety of complex procedures on patient samples in a timely manner, while maintaining accuracy and precision. The information obtained from these procedures is used to diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases in a clinical setting.

This statement reflects the primary function of a Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Technician and may not encompass all work requirements. The position may require other related duties as assigned by the Laboratory Director.

Qualifications

• Certification as a MT or MLS by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), National Certification Agency (NCA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or similar organizations is recommended but not required. If certified, proof of recertification should include member ID and expiration date.
• An associate degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology.
