Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Pearland is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform routine and specialized testing on body fluids under supervision. You will maintain competencies, ensure accuracy, and support patient safety and infection control in a busy laboratory.

The role requires attention to detail and collaborative teamwork to provide timely, high-quality results for patient care. This is a full-time on-site position at our Pearland facility.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or bachelor’s degree required for laboratory work.
• No travel required.
• No prior experience required for the role.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine to specialized bacteriological, hematological, chemical, immunological and serological testing on body fluids.
• Maintain required competencies and demonstrate accuracy in all testing.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Medical Technologist performs routine, complex or specialized bacteriological, hematological, chemical, immunological, serological and immunoassay procedures on body fluids.

What you will do in this role:

• Requires no supervision for processing specimens, performing testing, or reporting
• results. No review of patient results is required prior to reporting.
• Maintains required competencies in all departments assigned.
• Demonstrates accuracy for all testing performed.
• Observes patient safety, risk management and infection control policies and procedures
• Performs related quality control and required proficiency testing according to policy andprocedure.
• Fulfills the duty and responsibility to maintain competence and to continue personal and
• professional growth.
• Identifies and assists with opportunities for performance improvement activities on the unitand with other service areas.
• Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by taking ownership of time management, decreasing waste
• (of time and supplies) and promoting cost effectiveness while maintaining patient safety and
• quality of care. To actively market services to increase volume and awareness.
• Demonstrates the ability to be an advocate for and strive to protect health, safety and rights of the patient.
• Interactions with patients and colleagues demonstrate compassion and respect for the inherent
• dignity, worth, and uniqueness of every individual, unrestricted by considerations of social or
• economic status or cultural beliefs.
• Communicate effectively with other care providers (physicians, nurses, business office, and
