UNC Health is seeking a Medical Technologist to join a diverse team focused on improving community health. Performs laboratory procedures and tests in a prompt, accurate, and reliable manner, according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
The Medical Technologist provides accurate and timely laboratory services for patients, nursing staff, medical staff, and outside agencies such as home health agencies, nursing homes, and physician offices.
Associates of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, 60 semester hours including chemistry and biology, a one-year clinical laboratory techniques curriculum, or a twelve-month military medical laboratory training program.
Two years preferred.
ASCP registry or equivalent preferred.
Moderate proficiency in phlebotomy, computer literacy, strong communication and teamwork skills, customer focus.
Potential exposure to tuberculosis, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous chemicals, and frequent water contact. Be aware of noise and interruptions causing stress.
Standing and working throughout shift, lifting up to 50 pounds, manual dexterity, high color discrimination.
