Job summary

Medasource is seeking a clinical laboratory technician for a 6–12 month contract in the Indianapolis area. You will perform established hematology testing procedures, analyze specimens, and report results to sponsors/clients in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 1.5+ years of experience, hematology slide work, and high-volume testing (40–50 slides per day). ASCP certification is a plus; the position offers an opportunity to contribute to a global diagnostics leader.

Qualifications

  • Hematology experience with slides.
  • Ability to handle high-volume slide testing (40–50 per day).

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned clinical laboratory testing accurately within turnaround times.
  • Resolve specimen discrepancies and prepare workstations/instrumentation for testing.
  • Operate instruments per SOPs and troubleshoot routine/non-routine assay issues.
  • Ensure result validity through QA/QC procedures and maintain documentation.
  • Manage reagents, materials, inventory, and validation testing.
  • Enter results with peer review and audit trail; communicate issues to lab management.
  • Maintain instruments and perform calibration and basic troubleshooting.
  • Maintain up-to-date competency files and assist in training new staff.
  • Support QA/audit responses and timely inquiry resolution.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment; follow safety and biohazard protocols.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Contract Length: 6-12 month contract with likely extension or conversion

Location: Indianapolis Area

Hours: 9-530pm or 3-1130pm. Rotation of every other Saturday and every other Monday

Job Description:

Performs established clinical laboratory testing procedures across assigned laboratory disciplines. Responsible for analyzing specimens and reporting results to sponsors/clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned clinical laboratory testing accurately and within expected turnaround times
  • Resolve specimen discrepancies and pending issues; prepare workstations and instrumentation for testing
  • Operate instruments and perform testing per established written procedures; resolve routine and non-routine assay problems
  • Ensure result validity through quality assurance/quality control procedures, including QC interpretation, documentation of corrective actions, and evaluation of new calibrator/QC lots
  • Manage reagents, materials, and supplies: receiving, labeling, inventory control, and validation testing (parallel testing, linearity, stability)
  • Enter and document results with appropriate peer review and audit trail; communicate reporting issues to lab management
  • Perform instrument/equipment maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting per SOPs
  • Maintain up-to-date training files and complete required competency assessments; may assist in training new employees
  • Support internal and external customer needs, including QA/audit response and timely inquiry resolution
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; adhere to safety and biohazard protocols
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

2) 1.5 years experience or more

3) Hematology experience (working with hematology slides)

4) High volume slide testing- 40-50 accessions a day
