Job summary

Virtua Health in Marlton, NJ seeks a Medical Lab Technician or Medical Technologist to perform moderate and high complexity testing on blood, body fluids, and tissues, ensuring accuracy and quality under established procedures.

This role requires externship experience and an Associate’s degree in laboratory science, licensure/registration as MLT or CLIA high-complexity eligibility; ASCP preferred. Weekend rotation and two holidays per year are part of the schedule.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate and high complexity testing accurately without supervision.
• Validate results post-analytically, investigate deviations, and apply corrective action.
• Perform, review and document quality control according to procedures.
• Handle pre-analytical processes including patient ID, phlebotomy, specimen labeling and receipt.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Provide outstanding customer service through effective communication.

Summary

Analyzes, interprets, and validates laboratory procedures of various complexities on biological material such as blood, body fluids, and tissues for Virtua customers.

Position Responsibilities

• Performs moderate and high complexity testing accurately and precisely according to established procedure without direct supervision.
• Post analytically, validates results using established indicators, investigates deviations from the norm, recognizes trends or shifts, and applies corrective action.
• Performs, reviews and documents all quality control according to established policies and procedures.
• Performs pre-analytical processes including patient ID, phlebotomy, specimen labeling, specimen verification, receipt and shipment.
• Correctly operates, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment as required.
• Provides Outstanding Customer Service by demonstrating effective and appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required

Required Education

Associate’s degree in laboratory science area.

Training/Certifications/Licensure

Valid registration as a Medical Laboratory Technician or equivalent or meets CLIA88 requirements for high complexity testing. ASCP certification preferred.

Salary: $38.50 - $38.50 Hourly
