DMC University Laboratories seeks a Clinical Laboratory Technician who will perform routine clinical laboratory tests. DMC University Laboratories (DMCUL) is a regional, integrated laboratory system providing services to the eight hospitals of Detroit Medical Center. Established in 1993, DMCUL includes Core Laboratories, Specialty Laboratories, rapid response hospital laboratories, Centralized Stat Lab, Centralized Blood Bank Lab, and a comprehensive outreach infrastructure with patient service centers, remote ambulatory laboratories, marketing staff, courier system, and billing department. Our service area covers Southeast Michigan, with a test menu of over 1,000 tests, including high-end specialty tests. Less than 1% of tests are sent to outside reference laboratories. We also provide reference laboratory services to other healthcare systems in Southeastern Michigan and out-of-state facilities.
Description:
Under close supervision, performs routine clinical laboratory tests of a repetitive nature, typically limited to one laboratory section.
Performs qualitative and quantitative clinical laboratory tests on patient specimens, following established methodologies and policies.
Prepares and maintains accurate records of specimens received. May prepare media, stains, reagents, and solutions used in tests.
Analyzes test results and relays findings to physicians and authorized personnel.
Records and reviews test results for accuracy and quality control compliance.
Utilizes, calibrates, and maintains laboratory equipment, performing quality control checks. Obtains specimens such as blood and transports them to the laboratory.
Selects, uses, cleans, and maintains equipment for testing.
Follows administrative laboratory policies and procedures.
Maintains compliance with lab safety standards, OSHA accreditation, and regulatory agencies.
Performs other duties as assigned. Supports DMC values through behaviors that promote community welfare, quality, respect, teamwork, communication, innovation, education, and resource efficiency.
Requirements: Currently enrolled in an accredited Medical Technology program.
