HealthRIGHT 360 offers residential treatment services designed to serve individuals and families with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders. Our program helps clients address addiction and related issues, increase skills, manage stressors, connect to supportive services, and build a foundation for lasting recovery. Residential programs run 24/7 and include individual and group therapy, family therapy, individualized case management, treatment planning, drug and alcohol counseling, medication support services, and crisis intervention.

Be Well is located on the Be Well Orange County campus, which unites mental health care services through a cooperative partnership among public, private, academic, and faith-based organizations. This collaboration facilitates communication, bridges gaps, and eliminates barriers to care, resulting in a more compassionate system that works better for everyone in the community. The 24/7/365 residential substance use disorder (SUD) treatment program provides 3.1, 3.3, and 3.5 ASAM levels of care for males and females, as well as 3.2 withdrawal management. There are 15 beds for 3.1/3.5, 15 beds for 3.3, and 12 beds for 3.2, totaling 42 beds.

The Medical Technician I (Med Tech I) collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal treatment outcomes and provides care in line with HealthRIGHT 360’s philosophy, goals, policies, mission, and vision. The Med Tech I supervises clients during medication lines, withdrawal management, and free time. This customer service-focused role involves crisis intervention, client stabilization, assisting clients with medication self-administration, teaching illness management, coaching appointment adherence, screening for infectious diseases, and following policies for medical complaints and care linkage.

  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct Service

  • Assist with assessment, intake, transition, and discharge of clients in withdrawal management.
  • Monitor clients’ progress and communicate with the medical team.
  • Provide alcohol and drug counseling, maintain boundaries, monitor conduct, record activities, and report concerns.
  • Provide crisis intervention and triage within scope of practice.
  • Demonstrate crisis stabilization skills.
  • Monitor medication self-administration and document it accurately.
  • Collect and report urinalysis results.

Facility Operations

  • Manage biohazard waste removal.
  • Maintain OTC medications and First Aid supplies.
  • Conduct safety and security checks.
  • Perform detox and behavioral support rounds, documenting each.
  • Assist with visitor check-ins, monitoring visits, and bag checks.
  • Sign emergency passes as needed.
  • Maintain drug testing supplies and ensure chain of custody.
  • Respond to inquiries about withdrawal services within 24 hours.

Documentation

  • Maintain all medical documentation, including medication forms, logs, and discharge paperwork.
  • Upload client documentation into electronic health records.
  • Ensure timely completion of clinical documentation and progress notes within 72 hours.
  • Document urine analyses, withdrawal rounds, client updates, incidents, and complete incident reports.
  • Ensure documentation compliance with policies, HIPAA, 42-CFR, and funder standards.

Administration and Other Duties

  • Seek consultation for high-risk medical or clinical situations.
  • Coordinate with referral sources for client hand-offs.
  • Consult with prescribing providers on behalf of the Addiction Medicine Team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Certification, or Licensure

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Experience

  • Preferably at least two years’ experience with clients in substance abuse treatment, relapse prevention, and recovery in residential or detox settings.
