Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform chemical, microscopic, and/or bacteriologic testing to support diagnosis and treatment.
• Execute and analyze tests in chemistry, hematology, morphology, cytology, urinalysis, serology, histology, and bacteriology.
• Operate analytical devices and lab equipment used for complex testing and specimen analysis.
• Analyze, interpret, and correlate test results with patient history and diagnosis.
• Identify normal/abnormal results and document findings accurately.
• Enter lab findings into computerized systems.
• Perform quality-control studies to ensure data accuracy.
• Complete routine preventive maintenance on instruments per schedule.
• Check and calibrate instruments to verify operation.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and document corrective actions.
• Maintain instrument logs including repairs and maintenance.
• Follow laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards.

Equity Staffing Group is seeking a Medical Technologist for an opportunity in Needham, MA. This position is ideal for a skilled laboratory professional with experience performing complex testing, analyzing results, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring the accuracy of clinical data.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
Work Week: 5 days per week
Dress Code: Scrubs or lab-casual attire
The Medical Technologist will perform a variety of chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic laboratory tests used to obtain data for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. This individual will be responsible for performing and analyzing complex testing, interpreting results, maintaining laboratory instrumentation, and ensuring quality and accuracy throughout the testing process.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform chemical, microscopic, and/or bacteriologic testing to support the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
• Execute and analyze laboratory tests in areas including chemistry, hematology, morphology, cytology, urinalysis, serology, histology, and bacteriology.
• Operate analytical devices and laboratory equipment used for complex testing and specimen analysis.
• Analyze, interpret, and correlate test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition.
• Identify normal and abnormal results and ensure findings are accurately documented.
• Enter laboratory findings and test results into computerized systems.
• Perform quality-control studies to ensure the accuracy and reliability of clinical data.
• Complete routine preventive maintenance on assigned laboratory instruments and equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
• Check and calibrate laboratory instruments to verify proper operation.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and document corrective actions as needed.
• Maintain accurate instrument logs, including repairs, replacements, maintenance, and equipment needs.
• Follow established laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Must meet the qualifications required to conduct competency assessments.
• Must have the appropriate education and experience to evaluate the complexity of laboratory testing being assessed, as defined by the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory accuracy and quality.
• Ability to interpret and correlate complex laboratory findings.

Preferred Qualifications & Certifications

• Medical Technologist (ASCP) certification strongly preferred.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred.
• ACLS certification may be required depending on specialty.
• Previous experience performing complex clinical laboratory testing is highly desirable.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
