Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Lansing, MI seeks a Nursing Assistant to support nursing staff in Medical Surgical unit, following patient care plans and hospital policies. Shift: Days, 7:00a–7:00p.

Under RN supervision, you will perform routine patient care such as ambulation, hygiene, data collection, and basic procedures like finger sticks and glucose checks. Schedule full-time with weekends.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent is required.
• Specialized education options include acute care nursing assistant course, long term care nursing assistant course, EMT, medical assistant, or clinical rotation in an accredited nursing program.
• Direct patient care experience preferred; at least six months required if the specialized education requirements are not met.
• BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or MTN equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provides routine patient care services such as call light response; ambulating, transferring, and positioning; personal hygiene assistance, prescribed bowel and bladder program assistance, etc.
• Collects, records, and reports various patient data. Reports changes in patient condition.
• Performs surgical skin preps, basic skin care procedures, bedside finger stick blood sugars, and quality control checks of blood glucose instruments.
