Job Summary
The Med Surg ICU Physician Assistant (PA) II is part of the multidisciplinary Med Surg ICU team, responsible for patient care. The ICU serves medical, emergency surgery, and general surgery critical care patients. The team includes intensivist attendings from Surgery, Anesthesiology, Pulmonary Medicine, and Emergency Medicine, along with advanced practice providers.
The PA reports to the Med Surg ICU Chief PA, Medical Director, and administratively to the Administrative Director of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Daily supervision is provided by the attending intensivist covering each ICU.
The PA II role is intended for physician assistants with advanced clinical skills and experience, capable of taking on additional clinical, administrative, and leadership responsibilities beyond a PA I. Responsibilities are defined by the department/division and will be part of performance evaluations.
