Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Minimum 6 months of customer service experience.
• Ability to type 50 WPM.
• Oral and written proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Screens and receives phone calls in a courteous and timely manner.
• Responds to telephone inquiries regarding delivery of services.
• Perform appointment scheduling, tracking, pre- and post- appointment contacts as required.
• Receive medical records and ensure all necessary health and administrative information are processed into the proper Records Systems.
• Coordinates and authorizes care with external community care providers.
• Access computers to utilize Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel, and various electronic systems.
• Process community care consults in associated electronic systems.
• Effectively communicates with internal and external medical providers, reception staff, patients, and other third parties.
• Provide friendly and quality customer service to all patients, patient families, office and medical staff.

The Medical Support Assistant shall perform receptionist functions in support of Veterans Health Administration, including but not limited to:

• Screens and receives phone calls in a courteous and timely manner
• Responds to telephone inquiries regarding delivery of services

• Various front desk administrative duties, as needed

Qualifications & Physical Requirements

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology
• Minimum of 6 months of customer service experience
• Ability to type 50 WPM
• Possess basic computer skills
• Oral and written proficiency in English

Security Requirements

• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust/Suitability Clearance
• Must be a United States citizen

Pay Rate: $16.00 - $17.50 Hourly
