Job summary

San Diego Humane Society in Escondido is seeking a Medical Supervisor for our Shelter Medicine team. You will directly supervise RVTs and Vet Assistants, oversee daily case flow, and coordinate with leadership to move animals efficiently through the medical process.

The role involves scheduling, training, and possible euthanasia under veterinary supervision if needed; RVT duties apply if licensed. On-site, 4/10 schedule with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of clinical or shelter experience.
• One year of supervisory experience preferred.
• California RVT license highly preferred if licensed.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) and Vet Assistants, including hiring/firing recommendations and performance evaluations.
• Prepare and maintain staff work and task schedules; review timecards.
• Coordinate movement of animals through the medical process with Campus Leadership, Veterinary Manager and Hospital Director.
• Attend shelter rounds and assist as needed; maintain medical animal inventory.
• May assist with or perform euthanasia under veterinary supervision when required; RVT duties if licensed.

If licensed as an RVT, will be responsible for performing RVT duties as assigned.What we’re looking for:Requires high school diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of three (3) years of clinical and/or shelter experience in a veterinary atmosphere. One (1) year of supervisory experience preferred.California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license highly preferred.Location & Hours: Based at our Escondido Campus. This position works a 4/10 Alternative Work Schedule.Pay: Starting range is between $33.83 - $39.46 per hour.The listed hiring range for this position depicts the target range of pay rates for candidates. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. Compensation for internal candidates may increase beyond the listed range based on performance over time.
