Medical Specialist - Nuclear Tech - Full Time - OFFSITE - Wantagh

To perform and/or assist with all imaging functions and procedures within Nuclear Medicine, following departmental guidelines and protocols, as well as Radiation Safety protocols set by Mount Sinai Health System and all Federal and State regulatory agencies.


Responsibilities
  • Performs imaging and non-imaging Nuclear Medicine procedures.
  • Applies the necessary technical judgment to obtain studies of an acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and the patients’ needs.
  • Assists, prepares and positions patients as required to perform Nuclear Medicine procedures.
  • Provides patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures by informing the patient of the nature of the procedure, the area to be imaged and any specific instructions the patient may need.
  • Ensures all images are appropriately labeled as specified by the department SOP.
  • Assists with QA/QC program ensuring compliance with all regulatory agency requirements.
  • Monitors and assays shipments of radioactive materials.
  • Checks in unit doses and distributes to appropriate locations.
  • Prepares radiopharmaceuticals stock and measures patient doses thereof, following and performing all quality control guidelines and procedures.
  • Calibrates all instruments daily, and imaging processing as needed.
  • Ensures that all studies performed are completed EPIC Radiant in a timely fashion:
  • Ensures Radiology room and equipment cleanliness, at the start and at the end of the shift, to include removal of soiled or dirty linen.
  • Maintains supplies and accessories in imaging room necessary to safely perform duties, as required.
  • Accurately records all required patient tracking information into EPIC Radiant.
  • Performs comprehensive computer processing and data manipulation.
  • Maintains required records of utilization and disposal of radioactive materials, monitoring, surveys, etc.
  • Administers radiopharmaceutical to patients orally or intravenously under supervision of director or designee.
  • Performs radiation surveys of department to ensure safety and performs decontamination procedures when necessary.
  • Schedules exams into EPIC Radiant as required.
  • Informs supervisor or appropriate personnel of needed repairs to equipment or unsafe conditions:
  • Assists physician directly as required.
  • Prevents the spread of infection to self, patients, visitors, and other employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocol.
  • Performs related clerical duties in the absence of support personnel:
  • Attends in-services and other professional development meetings as required:
  • Maintains in good standing, licensure specific to job to include adherence to Article 35 of the Public Health Code.
  • Maintain continuing medical education credits.
  • Assist with ACR and/or ICANL accreditations.

Qualifications
  • Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • 0-2 years minimum of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • ARRT(N) and/or CNMT

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $52.4177 - $55.5628 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
