Description

Nebraska Cancer Specialists (NCS) is hiring a medical scribe to work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare team members. The ideal candidate must have a medical background, be able to type over 80 WPM, capture information accurately, and work well with physicians. The medical scribe will be in the room with the physician and patient, scribing in real-time. This is a permanent full-time position.

Job Duties

• Prepares and assembles medical record documentation/charts for physicians.
• Enters the patient room with the physician during patient visits to capture and transcribe medical record documentation using electronic medical record applications.
• Ensures medical record compliance by self-documentation attestation.
• Updates patient history, physical exam, and other pertinent health information.
• Prepares and sends all documentation to the physician for review and approval via authentication of detailed data entry and facility-specific procedures.
• Monitors the duration of basic lab results and screening procedures.
• Complies with hospital and medical facility policies, including HIPAA and Joint Commission regulations.
• Performs other clerical duties and tasks to improve provider productivity and clinic workflow as assigned.

Ability To

• Work in a fast-paced, busy, and sometimes stressful environment.
• Listen, observe, and draft medical information quickly and accurately in an EMR.
• Learn and apply complex medical terminologies and techniques.
• Communicate and interact professionally with others.
• Operate a personal computer, related software applications, and EMR systems.
• Maintain strict confidentiality by following HIPAA and PHI guidelines.

Requirements

• Patient scribe or transcription experience preferred.
• EMR experience.
