Established in 1977, our locations span Northern California, including Sacramento, Grass Valley, Roseville, Stockton, Modesto, Merced, Fairfield, Elk Grove, Folsom, Yuba City, and Chico. Our physicians are nationally renowned, leading the forefront of retina care through advanced equipment and participation in clinical trials. Join over 250 team members in our fast-paced, high-volume retina specialty practice.

We are looking for a full-time Scribe to support our team. You will work independently and directly with physicians, patients, and staff, requiring collaboration and teamwork. The position involves travel to various locations as needed, Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays.

Responsibilities

1. Act as a physician extender
2. Answer patient questions
3. Ensure documentation is signed and complete
4. Conduct "spot audit" visits, knowing required billing documents and ensuring completeness
5. Handle prescription refills
6. Maintain weekly replacement of Cidex and keep the calendar
7. Complete forms for physicians, including lab, radiology, and surgery paperwork
8. Ensure HPI is completed
9. Demonstrate proper ocular dressings and shields application

Requirements

1. Fast and accurate typing in EHR with correct spelling
2. Basic knowledge of ocular anatomy and physiology
3. Understanding of ophthalmic pharmacology, including various medications and their indications, contraindications, and complications
4. Knowledge of common retinal diagnoses, treatments, and plans
5. Familiarity with physician preferences for procedures, treatment plans, imaging, and follow-up
6. Fundamentals of asepsis
7. Understanding surgical management of common retinal surgeries
8. Knowledge of CPT codes, billable diagnoses, and documentation for billing

Physical Requirements

1. Sitting and viewing a computer screen for extended periods
2. Keyboarding for extended periods
3. Standing or walking up to 75% of the time
4. Lifting, reaching, and bending often
5. Close visual acuity for detailed work
