Description

The Scribe position is a full-time position. The Medical Scribe works to facilitate patient flow and ensure an accurate and complete medical record for each patient. The scribe assists the physicians and physician assistants by accompanying them during the medical history taking and exam recording details of both into the medical record and coordinating departmental resources regarding tests, orders, radiology and results. The scribe gives the patient educational resources and clinical summaries at the physician/physician assistant’s request and makes sure the record is complete before the patient departs by performing the following duties.

Requirements

1. Must greet every patient in a respectful, professional, kind and caring manner.
2. Assists in directing the physicians to the appropriate exam room and assists them in documenting the patient’s visit in the EHR. Must go into the exam patient’s room with the physician and always conducts themselves in a professional manner at all times.
3. Knows how to navigate in the EHR and quickly learns physician preferences and patterns to efficiently document the visit and helps to increase physician’s productivity. ModMed experience is preferred.
4. Understands the importance of CPT codes and that everything entered into the system is under the physician’s direction/responsibility.
5. Makes sure that all documentation is correct and professional in grammar, punctuation and spelling.
6. Must be knowledgeable about meaningful use (MU) and PQRI requirements and assists physician/PA in meeting those objectives.
7. Is familiar with medical terminology in general and ENT specific terminology and procedures.
8. Types at least 60-70 words per minute.
