The Opportunity
Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting registration procedures to verify donor suitability for plasma pheresis.
You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.
The Role
- Assist qualified donors in completing the screening process in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This includes assessing health history, answering medical questions, referring donors to medical staff when needed, and performing health screenings such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature. Perform finger sticks to obtain samples for hematocrit and total protein levels.
- After training, educate new donors on therapeutic products made from plasma, explaining the screening process, health tests, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, nutrition, and other relevant information. Ensure donor questions are answered professionally and promptly.
- Register applicants and transfer donors as per training and operational needs.
- Answer telephone inquiries or transfer calls to appropriate staff.
- Monitor donors for reactions during or after the pheresis process and notify staff if needed.
- Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
- Accurately record donor data in the electronic management system following SOPs.
- Understand policies related to hyper immune programs, if applicable.
- Maintain a clean, efficient work environment with sufficient supplies and forms. Follow all HSE and OSHA policies, promoting safety at all times.
- Maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
- Cross-train in other areas as needed.
- Bilingual skills may be required based on organizational needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Your Skills and Experience
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- At least three months of experience in clerical, customer service, or healthcare-related roles, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic math skills required.
Working Conditions
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Observe equipment operation and communicate with customers.
- Stand and walk up to 100% of the time.
- Reach, bend, kneel, and perform manual tasks with dexterity.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
- Be exposed to chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.
- Wear PPE as required.
- Work overtime and extended hours as needed.
