Job Description Summary
Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting registration procedures to verify donor suitability for plasma pheresis.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist qualified donors in completing screening processes in accordance with SOPs, including health history assessments, medical questions, referrals to medical staff, and health screenings such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature. Perform finger sticks to obtain hematocrit and protein levels.
- After training, educate new donors about therapeutic products, screening, health tests, appointment systems, fees, policies, nutrition, and other relevant information. Address donor questions professionally and promptly.
- Register applicants and transfer donors as per training and operational needs.
- Answer telephone inquiries or transfer calls appropriately.
- Monitor donors during and after pheresis for reactions and notify staff if needed.
- Report donor flow issues to the supervisor.
- Accurately record donor data in the electronic management system following SOPs.
- Understand policies related to hyperimmune programs if applicable.
- Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure availability of supplies, adhering to HSE and OSHA policies. Promote safety at all times.
- Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
- Cross-train in other areas as needed and utilize bilingual skills if required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum three months of experience in clerical, customer service, or health-related roles, or equivalent education and experience.
- Basic math skills.
Working Conditions
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Capable of seeing, speaking with customers, and observing equipment.
- Stand and walk frequently; reach, bend, kneel; manual dexterity required.
- Lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions, exposure to chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.
- Wear PPE as required.
- Work overtime and extended hours as needed.
