Job Description Summary

This position focuses on disease states (e.g., prostate cancer, neuroendocrine tumors, etc.) treated by Novartis' Radioligand Therapies.

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) role is a field-based, customer-facing, non-promotional medical and scientific position. The MSL's key objective is to create impact by advancing clinical practice within the assigned territory, leading to improved patient outcomes. The MSL must demonstrate deep therapeutic expertise, understand territory and market influences, engage scientifically with Healthcare Providers (HCPs) and medical experts, manage and develop their territory, and execute all relevant activities in alignment with the medical strategic and tactical plan, while adhering to the Novartis Code of Conduct, Ethics/Compliance policies, and Working Practice documents. The MSL will inform and shape medical strategy by collecting impactful and actionable insights, understanding their potential strategic impact.

This territory covers CO, UT, ID, WY, & MT. The preferred location for the successful candidate is within the greater Denver or Salt Lake City areas. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the territory border; relocation is not available.

Role Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  1. The MSL will leverage scientific expertise and market knowledge to establish and build professional relationships and engage with HCPs (including community physicians, pharmacists, medical experts, nurses, and other healthcare professionals) and thought leaders in the geographical area, aligned with the medical strategy.
  2. The primary responsibility is to engage with customers through activities such as discussions on emerging data, clinical trial activities, uncovering barriers in the patient journey, understanding market dynamics, exploring unmet medical needs, pipeline discussions, education on disease state and product, capturing adverse events, and collecting medical insights throughout the product lifecycle.
  3. Demonstrate strategic territory vision and ensure appropriate territory identification, mapping, and planning of Medical Engagements (MEs) and Key Accounts in collaboration with internal colleagues. This includes:
    1. Identifying key stakeholders influencing the patient journey and disease space to establish strategies for education, engagement, and partnership.
    2. Identifying opportunities for partnerships with academic centers, centers of excellence, and systems of care.
    3. Identifying opportunities for involving HCPs or MEs when specific medical needs are identified.
    4. Collaborating with other Novartis stakeholders to advance therapeutic, clinical, or product goals.
  4. Providing clinical trial support for company-sponsored trials, working cross-functionally with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations.
  5. Collaborating effectively with internal teams (e.g., HEOR, access, marketing, sales) to promote clinical practice while maintaining compliance and customer centricity.
  6. Maintaining in-depth knowledge of the therapeutic area and Novartis compounds to serve as a medical resource.
  7. Staying informed about internal policies and external regulations affecting responsibilities.
  8. Executing administrative responsibilities and training promptly, including CRM updates and profiling customers.
  9. Championing emerging responsibilities as priorities evolve.
  10. Proactively pursuing personal and professional development.

The pay range at start is approximately $166,400 - $249,600 for Managers and $183,200 - $274,800 for ADs. Final compensation depends on various factors including location, experience, and skills. The total package may include bonuses, stock units, and benefits. Salary adjustments may occur during employment.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in science or healthcare required; doctoral degree preferred (MD, PhD, DNP, PharmD, etc.)
  • Experience for Manager Level:
    • 0-3 years in a Field Medical role or as an MSL, or
    • 3-5 years in medical affairs, clinical research, or related fields, preferred.
  • Experience for AD Level:
    • Minimum of 3 years in a Field Medical role or as an MSL, or
    • 5-7 years in medical affairs, clinical research, or related fields, preferred.
  • Strong clinical knowledge including pharmacotherapy, treatment guidelines, research processes, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ability to work within legal, ethical, and compliance standards.
  • Field-based role covering CO, UT, ID, WY, & MT; residence within 50 miles of the territory is required.
  • Approximately 60-70% travel expected.
