The MSL must demonstrate deep therapeutic expertise, understand territory and market influences, engage scientifically with Healthcare Providers (HCPs) and medical experts, manage and develop their territory, and execute all relevant activities in alignment with the medical strategic and tactical plan—while functioning within the Novartis Code of Conduct, Ethics/Compliance policies, and Working Practice documents. The MSL will inform and shape medical strategy through application of a curious mindset to collect impactful and actionable insights, understanding the potential strategic impact of critical insights.

This territory covers Central/South Arizona, NM, and the city of El Paso, TX. The preferable location for the successful candidate is in Phoenix or near a major airport. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the territory border; relocation is not available.

Role Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  1. Leverage scientific expertise and market knowledge to establish and build professional relationships and engage with HCPs (including community physicians, pharmacists, medical experts, nurses, and other healthcare professionals) and thought leaders in the geographical area, aligned with medical strategy.
  2. Engage with customers through activities like emerging data discussions, clinical trial activities, uncovering barriers in the patient journey, understanding market dynamics, exploring unmet medical needs, pipeline discussions, educating on disease state and products, capturing adverse events, and gathering medical insights across all product lifecycle stages.
  3. Demonstrate strategic territory vision and ensure appropriate identification, mapping, and planning of Medical Engagements (MEs) and Key Accounts as aligned with medical strategy, in collaboration with internal colleagues. This includes:
    1. Identifying key stakeholders influencing the patient journey and disease space throughout the product development lifecycle to develop education, engagement, and partnership strategies.
    2. Identifying opportunities for partnerships with academic centers, centers of excellence, and systems of care to drive impact in the territory.
    3. Identifying opportunities to involve HCPs or MEs when specific medical needs are identified (e.g., publications, clinical trial participation).
    4. Collaborating with other Novartis stakeholders to advance therapeutic, clinical, or product goals.
  4. Provide clinical trial support for company-sponsored trials, working cross-functionally with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations.
  5. Collaborate effectively with internal teams (e.g., HEOR, access, marketing, sales) within the therapeutic area and territory to promote clinical practice while maintaining customer centricity and compliance.
  6. Maintain in-depth knowledge of the therapeutic area and Novartis compounds to serve as a medical resource internally and externally.
  7. Stay informed about internal policies and external regulations affecting responsibilities.
  8. Complete all administrative tasks (CRM updates, expense reports, compliance modules, etc.) promptly, including profiling customers and maintaining up-to-date CRM data.
  9. Adapt to emerging responsibilities as strategic priorities and territory needs evolve.
  10. Engage in continuous personal and professional development.
